Family Calendar · Effective 5 October 2026

Family Calendar is made by Petter Staveland in Norway. This policy explains what the app stores about you, why, and who helps us run it. We only use your data to make the app work for you and your family. We never sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

What we store

  • Your account: the identifier and email address Apple shares when you sign in with Apple (often a private relay address), the name you choose, your profile photo if you add one, your language and your time zone.
  • What you and your family add: events (title, time, place, note, who is invited and their answers, who drives), tasks, chores, check-ins, stars and rewards, the shopping list and what was bought, the dinner plan and recipes, wishlists, birthdays, the family book (for example contacts, Wi-Fi, clothing sizes, health notes and when documents expire), and profiles you make for children, pets or others without the app (name, birthday, colour, emoji). Invitation codes.
  • Places you choose: your home town, for the weather, and places you put on events.
  • Calendars you bring in: if you choose calendars on your phone (such as Spond or a work calendar) or a calendar link, their events are copied into the family calendar, or only shown as “busy” if you choose that.
  • Your training, only if you turn it on: see Apple Health below.
  • Your device: a push notification token, so we can send the reminders, briefings and notifications you ask for.

We do not track your location, and we do not collect contacts, usage analytics or advertising identifiers, or track you across apps or websites. Subscriptions are handled by Apple, and we never see your payment details.

Apple Health

If you turn on Share my workouts in Settings, the app reads your workouts from Apple Health and shares them with your family: the kind of workout, when, how long, active energy, distance, average and highest heart rate, the app or watch that recorded it and, unless you turn it off, the name of the area where it started (your phone asks Apple’s map service for the name of the starting point). Only the area name is stored, never your route or position, and the app never writes anything to Apple Health.

Your workouts are only used to show your training to your family, in the app and, if you choose, in the family calendar. They are never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never given to anyone outside your family: not to AI services, not to AI assistants anyone in the family has connected, and not to calendar links. Turning it off deletes the workouts you have shared from our servers.

Who can see it

Only you and the family members you join with an invitation code, and a linked second home for children who live in two homes (only what concerns those children). If you leave a family or are removed from it, the others no longer see your plans.

Some things can be shared further, but only when you choose to: a calendar link (anyone with it can see the family’s plans, not tasks, the shopping list or workouts) and a wishlist link. You can stop or replace such links at any time.

Service providers

  • Supabase stores the data and runs the servers, in the EU (Ireland).
  • Vercel hosts this website, including the pages for invitations and shared wishlists. Like any web server, it handles your IP address to deliver the pages. The website uses no analytics and no tracking; if you switch language, a cookie remembers your choice.
  • Apple provides Sign in with Apple, push notifications and in-app subscriptions.
  • OpenAI receives only what the smart features need: the names of shopping list items, to choose an aisle such as “Dairy”; the photo, PDF or text you ask the app to read events from (magic import), with the names in your family so events land on the right person; and a recipe page or photo you import. We do not keep the photos or documents. Under OpenAI’s API terms this data is not used to train their models. It may be processed in the United States.
  • MET Norway provides the weather. It receives the coordinates of your home town or an event’s place, never who you are.
  • AI assistants you connect yourself (such as ChatGPT, Claude or Grok) can read and change what is in the app as you (plans, tasks, lists, recipes, wishlists and the family book, except Wi-Fi passwords, codes and anything marked sensitive), when you ask them to. What they receive is then handled by that company under the terms you have with them. They never get anyone’s workouts. You can disconnect an assistant at any time in the app under Family → AI assistants.
  • Google Firebase is used for a limited time. While some family members still use an older version of the app, your plans are also kept in sync with the system the older version uses. This will be switched off when everyone has moved to the new version.

These providers only process data to run the app for us. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to you and your family.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Family → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, your photo and everything you have created, including the copies kept for older app versions. What you delete in the app, such as an event or a shopping item, is deleted from our servers too.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Contact us at staveeland@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

Children

The app is made for families. Children under 13 should only use it with a parent’s consent. If you believe a child has given us data without consent, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above.
